N, commander of the cruiser which re- turned the Unknown Soldier to the United States, died today at his home, 3612 Newark street, after a long ill- ness. Until last month Capt. Wyman was on special duty with the Shore Estab- lishment Division, Navy Department, having been placed on the retired list in June, 1935. Born in Evanston, Ill, on Decem- ber 13, 1878, he was appointed to the Naval Academy in 1895, graduating four years later. After serving in the Spanish-Amer- ican War, Capt. Wyman was awarded the Spanish Campaign Medal, Philip- pine Campaign Medal, Cuban Classifi- cation Medal and Mexican Service Medal. Was Cruiser Commander. During the World War, he was as- signed to the Industrial Department, and stationed at the Portsmouth (N. H) Navy Yard.
