Hughes, Representative and Mrs. William F. Allen and the commandant of the| Marine Corps, Maj. Gen. Thomas Holcomb and Mrs. Holcomb have con- sented to act as patrons, Senator John G. Townsend, jr., president of the so- ciety, will be present. ‘The Towa State Society of Washing- ton will hold a reception and dance Friday, April 9, at the Shoreham Ho- tel at 8:30 o'clock. Honor Guests at Ball Sorority Council Entertains at Tea On Tuesday members of the sorori- ties belonging to the Washington Panhellenic Association will be en- tertained at tea in Strong Residence Hall, Twenty-first and G streets, by E. Crone, alumna adviser of Zeta Tau Alpha, and Miss Marie Jorolemon of the active chapter of Pi Beta Phi. The Borority Council was organized for the purpose of promoting mutual understanding of sorority life and is composed of the presidents of the 12 active chapters, the alumna ad- visers and the presidents of the MASAKO AND SAKIKO SAITO, Daughters of the Japanese Ambassador and Mme. Saito, who will be honor guests at the cherry blossom ball of the National Women’s Democratic Council at the Washington Hotel tomor= row evening. Painting Exhibition to Benefit Orchestra The Phillips Memorial Gallery has completed plans for a loan exhibition of important paintings, most of them by the older masters which are owned in Washington. They are to be shown in its main gallery from April 16 to April 29 for the benefit of the Na- tional Symphony Orchestra. Invita- tions will be sent for receptions on the opening and closing days, April 15 and 30. Among the lenders are the Greek Minister, M. Demetrios Sicilianos; the former Secretary of the Treasury, Mr. Andrew W. Miss Ripple is a graduate of the| Washington State College and has traveled quite extensively in the Orient and in Europe. She has just returned from a visit to Mexico and the Canal Zone. Lieut. He has been stationed at the Army Medical | Center here in Washington and is now stationed at the Carlisle Bar- racks in Carlisle, Pa.
