NEW YORK, December 11.—The brightest railroad prospects in years were cited in messages to the sixty- ourth anniversary meeting of the New ork Rallroad Club at a dinner last night, Attending the dinner were leaders in railroading, railway equipment build- ing and industry. CHICAGO, December 11.—Retail newspaper advertising by merchants in 67 major cities during the week ended November 28 was 1,502,293 lines in excess of the corresponding week in 1935, Advertising Age, national ad- vertising newspaper, stated in a report released today. ‘The report shows a total of 19,287~ 656 lines of retail advertising for this week, against 17,785,363 lines in the like week of 1935, a gain of 1,502,203 lines, or 8.5 per cent. ‘Total retail advertising for the year to November 28 was 837,445,827 lines for the 67 cities measured, against 785,499,702 lines for the corresponding period of last year. The gain of 51.- 946,125 lines places this year 6.6 per cent ahead of last yeer.
