These figures compared to net in- come of $1,814491 and $5438852 in the corresponding period last year. The statement reported dividends on common stock to date in 1936 ag- gregated $4,049,426. MNEW YORK, December 8 (F).— American Car & Foundry Co. reported net earnings after normal income tax for the six months ended Octover 31 amounted to $729,376, equal to $3.43 a share on 300,000 shares of 7 per cent preferred stock. BALTIMORE, December 8 —Car- loadings on the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad for the month of November, | Co. 1936, which was the best November since 1913, totaled 214.381, comprising | 142,168 cars loaded on line and 72,213 | received from connections. This was an increase of 38,765 cars loaded aver[ the month of November, 1935, when the totel was 175,616, consisting of 113,989 cars loaded on line and 61,627 received from connections. For the previous month of October, 1936, total carloadings were 236,677, ! of which 158,234 cars were loaded on | line and 78,433 recsived from con- | nections. I For the week ended December 5 total loads were 50,635, made up of | 34,088 cars loaded on line and 16,547 received from connections. This was | an increase of 10,278 over the same week of last year, when the total was 40,357, of which 26,970 cars were load- | (ed on line and 13,387 received trom‘ connections. | Last weeks' loadings also showed an | increase of 2836 over the previous week (the week ended November 28), | when the total was 47,779. comprising 31,371 cars loaded on line and 16,408 received from connections. BY the Assoclated Press. Cotton production this year was es~ timated today at 12,407,000 equivalent 500-pound bales by the Department of Agriculture in its December report. A month ago 12,400,000 bales were forecast. Last year's production was 10,638,000 bales and the average for the five years, 1928-1932, was 14,667,- 000 bales. Acre yield this year is placed at 197.6 pounds, compared witn 199.7 forecast a month ago, 186.3 produced last year and 169.9 the 1928-1932 average. The acreage for harvest this year was 30,054,000 and the abandonment after July 1 was 2.8 per cent of the 30,932,000 acres in cultivation July 1. The acreage picked last year was 27, 335,000 and that in cultivation July 1 was 27,888,000, while two years ago it was 26,866,000 and 27,860,000, Cotton of this year's crop ginned prior to December 1 was reported by the Census Bureau to have totaled 11,494,170 running bales, compared with 9,356,921 for 1935 and 9,019,834 for 1934.
