Fuller, Native of Massa- chusetts, Dies in Quarters at Xenwood. Fred J. Fuller, manager of the Ken- wood Golf and Country Club, died yesterday at his quarters in the club after & brief iliness. Mr. Fuller, who was 66, was a native of Massachu- setts. For a number of years Mr. Fuller was general manager of a group of five hotels in New York City. He also managed hotels and clubs, among them the Newark Athletic Club and the Level Club, in New York and New Jersey. He came to the local club about two years ago from New York. Mr. Fuller was born in Great Bar- rington, Mass. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ethel M. Fuller; two daughters, Ethel and Eleanor; a brother, George Fuller of Great Bar- rington, and & sister, Mrs, Maude Frien of Great Barrington. Mrs. Carrie McGavock Whitside, 91, widow of Gen. Samuel Marmaduke ‘Whitside, died yesterday in Walter Reed Hospital, where she had been taken last Tuesday after breaking her hip in a fall at a nursing home. Mrs. Whitside, who had lived here for many years, was a native of Nash- ville, Tenn., the daughter of the late David and Caroline Pugsley McGavock. She married Gen. Whitside in 1868 and spent many years with him in Western frontier garrisons. Gen. Whitside was a military governor in Cuba during the American occupation following the Spanish-American War. Surviving Mrs. Whitside are a son, Col. W. W. Whitside, U. 8. A., sta- tioned at Front Royal, Va.; a daugh- ter, Mrs. Archie Miller, 2101 8 street; two grandsons, Lieut. W. W. Whitside, jr, U. 8. N, and Lieut. Whitside Miller, Cavalry, U. 8. A.; three grand- daughters, Mrs. W. A. Samouce, Mrs. Carroll Tyler and Mrs. Robert Burns, and three great-grandsons. Funeral services will be held Thurs- day at All Souls' Episcopal Church, | with Rev. Dr. H. H. D. Sterrett offi- ciating. The hour of the funeral is to be announced later. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery. i FUNERAL RITES HELD FOR MRS. JESSIE KNAPP Widow of Wisconsin Lumberman Dies at Home Here at Age of 80. Mrs. Jessie Thomas Knapp, 80, widow of Henry E. Knapp, died yes- terday after a long illness at her home, in the Wardman Park Hotel. Mrs. Knapp's husband, who died in July, 1932, at one time was & promi- nent Wisconsin lumberman. He had retired many years ago. She and her husband had traveled extensivelyy but had spent the greater part of their time in Washington since coming here abut 10 years ago. Among her survivors is a brother, David Thomas, of California. Funeral services are being held to- day at Gawler's chapel, 1750 Penn- sylvania avenue. Burial will be private. L. FASSIG Retired Weather Bureau Meteor- ologist to Be Buried in Baltimore. Funeral services for Dr. Oliver L. Passig, 76, retired Weather Bureau meteorologist, will be held at 11 am. tomorrow in Christ Episcopal Church, QGeorgetown. Dr. J. G. Armstrong, rector, will officiate. Burial will be in Loudon Park Cemetery, Baltimore. Dr. Fassig died Sunday night in Emergency Hospital, where he had been under treatment since being knocked down by an automobile in the 4700 block of Connecticut avenue on November 20. He was retired from the Weather Bureau in 1932, his last position there being chief of the Division of Clima- tology. From 1919 to 1930 he had been in charge of the Weather Bureau’s West Indian and Caribbean service, He began work with the buresu in 1883. lnrecgnlyemm Fassig had been orking on a book to be published on Lhe climate of Puerto Rico. He was a member of many scientific organiza- tions and had written extensively on scientific subjects. Since his retire- ment from the Weather Bureau he had been research associate of the Blue Hill Observatory of Harvard Univer- sity. Baptist Service Postponed. The installation of Dr. Edward Hughes Pruden as pastor of the First Baptist Church, Sixteenth and O streets, has been postponed from to- morrow until Wednesday, December 16.
