A, retired, a veteran of both the Spanish- American and World Wars, died at ‘Walter Reed Hospital yesterday after- noon. He had lived here at 618 Jack- son avenue. Capt. Herron, who was born on May 29, 1875, at Winnsboro, 8. C., volun- teered for service in the Spanish- American War at Winnsboro in 1898 and was in action with Company D of the 1st Infantry. At the outset of the World War he was assigned to the 7th Regiment, Officers Training Camp, where he was promoted to the rank of captain. He was retired May 7, 1932, while serving with the 60th Regiment (C. A. C.) of the Quartermasters’ Corps in Wash- ington. His wife, Mrs. Eloise Herron, and a sister, Mrs. Arthur M. Owens of ‘Winnsboro, survive. Funeral services will be held at the residence Tuesday morning prior to rites in the Riverdale Presbyterian Church at 10 o'clock.
