Ward, Travilah, yesterday afternoon selected Friday, October 9, as the date for its fourth annual flower show, to be held in the Rock- ville Fire Department Building. Mrs. Eugene W. Scott, chairman; Mrs. George F. Hane, Mrs. J. Harry Gormley, Mrs. Benjamin T. Elmore and Mrs, Edward L. Morrison were named as the general committee of arrangements, and the committee and Miss Laura Ann Wadsworth, president of the club, will meet at the home THE SUNDAY STAR, WASHINGTON, D. C, of Mrs. Hane, Alta Vista, Mon- day to select subcommittees and pre- pare a schedule. It was stated that the most pretentious show yet spon- sored by the club is contemplated. Yesterday's meeting was addressed by Mr. Adams, horticulturist, of Clarksville, Md., who discussed the planting and Winter care of peren- nials. The flowers on display, which were regarded as unusually beautiful, in- cluded nasturtiums, zinnias, gledio- luses, dahlias, roses and cosmos. Points on the exhibits were awarded by a committee consisting of Mrs. Hane, Mrs. George A. Ninas and Mrs. Walter E. Young. They will count in the season’s totals, on which prizes will be given at the club’s final meet- ing late in October.. Preceding the meeting luncheon was served, the hostesses being Mrs. Ward, Mrs. L. SILVER SPRING, Md., September 12—Two hundred and twenty-five children have already registered as SEPTEMBER 13, 1936—PART ONE. pupils in St. Michael's Parish School and more are expected to register when the school opens tomorrow morning, it was announced Thurs- day by the principal, Sister Mary Elenore. The first-grade children will have their classes at the convent, used for the past several years as the parish school, and the remaining seven grades will be in the new school on Mont~ gomery avenue, which has just been comileted, Classes will be conducted only for & half-day session tomorrow. The Academy of the Holy Names will also open Monday and will offer instruction in music and a first-year high school course for girls. Sister Mary Elenore will act as principal of both schools.
