! B8 wx MOTHER AND SON HELD GUILTY IN ROBBERIES Thefts From Summer Bring Suspended Sentences Froin Fairfax Judge. By a Staff Correspondent of The Star. FAIRFAX, Va. November 20.—A mother and her 16-year-old son were found guilty Monday of housebreak- Ing and robbery but received suspended sentences from Judge Paul E. Brown 4n Trial Justice Court here. They were Mrs. Elsie Weeden, 40, and Howard Weeden of Springfleld, arrested several days ago at their $200 from several Summer cabins at Springfield. Mrs. Weeden's daughter, Mrs. Flor- ence Schindell, 23, similarly charged, was found not guilty, and Robert Abel, Cabins | 49, who lives at the Weeden home, was found guilty on the same counts and sentenced to six months in the county jail. His sentence was not suspended. According to Sheriff E. P. Kirby, Abel is wanted by Prince Wiillam County authorities for escaping jail in Manassas, where he had served four months of a six-month sentence for driving while under the influence of liquor, . Va,, and the Pines, a State clinic for crippled children at Berkeley Springs, were surprised yesterday to receive substantial pay- ments from the profits on a three- | day extension of the horse racing meet at Charles Town the past Sum- mer. nouncement had been made during the Fall that the earller plan to distribute this money had been re- scinded. The extension of the meet had beerr predicated upon the offer to divide the profits. The Pines received half of the profits from the extension, $3,100; Charles Town Hospital received $1,500 and two hospitals here $750 each.
