DATE OF HUMMER TRIAL IS EXPECTED Fairfax Court, Convening Tomorrow, Due to Slate Recluse Slaying Case. Special Dispatch to The Star. FAIRFAX, Va., November 16.—Trial dates for Henry Edwards, colored, and Hugh Hummer of near Falls Church for the murder of Truman Brush, 76- year-old farmer recluse, are expected to be set when the Fairfax County Circuit Court convenes Monday. Both are being held in jail here under indictments charging them with murdering and robbing Brush last August on a wooded pathway near his home. The recluse’s head was bat- tered with a heavy rock. Confession Claimed. Edwards made a written confession of the crime, according to Sheriff E. P. Kirby. The confession implicated Hummer, who was & tenant on the _ Brush farm, and he was subsequently arrested and indicted. Although trial dates are expected to be set, Commonwealth’s Attorney Wilson M. Farr said today that he did not know whether they would be for this term of court. If they are set for the next term, the two men will be prosecuted by Paul E. Brown, newly | elected attorney for the Common- | wealth. Farr did not offer for re-elec- tion after having held the office for 20 years. Wife Under Arrest. | Hummer's wife, Mrs. Goldie Hum- | mer, was also arrested in connection | with the slaying, and although she is still being held at the jail, no effort was made to secure an indictment at the last term of the court. Twelve new civil cases have been filed since the last term of the court, and besides seven appeals from the FAIRFAX T0 VOTE ON SEWER BONDS Referendum on Proposed $55,000 Issue Set for November 23.
