(¢dar Hil Washingtmimost DR. JOHN F. ROME DIES IN MARYLAND Veterinarian, 72, Is Found Dead in Bed—Services to Be Held Saturday. By a Staff Correspondent of The Star. GERMANTOWN, Md., September 26.—Dr. John P. Rome, 73-year-old veterinarian and former health in- spector for the District of was found dead in bed at his home here yesterday. His death is be- lieved to have resulted from heart trouble. A native of Jersey City, Dr. Rome moved to Washington in 1880, when he was 17 years old, and came here in 1902 as a milk inspector for the District of Columbia in this area. He served 23 years in that position, retiring in 1925. He was educated in the public schools of Jersey City, where he was born in 1863, and received his vet- erinary degree at Toronto, Canada. Dr. Rome was a member of the Pourth Degree, Knights of Columbus, Gaithersburg Council, and served two terms as grand knight and also two terms as district deputy. Requiem mass is (o be held at o'clock Saturday morning at St. Rose’s Church in Cloppers, Md., and burial will be in the cemetery adjoin- ing the church. His widow, Mrs. Margaret M.
