CURB LIST MOVES T0 HIGHER LEVELS Selling of Oil and Metal Issues Fails to Stop General Upturn. l! the Associated Press. YORK, August 29.—Late sell- the oil and metal groups failed to check a fairly general upswing in curb stocks today. ‘With the exception of these two di- visions closing prices were close to the tops, with utilities and industrials showing the greatest gains. Aluminum Co. of America, Ameri- can Cyanamid B, Electric Bond & Bhare and Swift Internacional finished with gains of around a point. FEWER FREIGHT CARS ADDED BY RAILROADS By the Associated Press. NEW YORK, August ‘29.—New freight cars installed by class 1 rail- roads during the first seven months of 1935 totaled 2272, according to the Assoelation of American rail- wads. In the same period last year, 9,483 new freight cars were placed iu service. Jones & Co. said today that Anaconda Copper Mining Co. is preparing for | registration of an fssue of 15-year debenture bonds in connection with plans for retirement of $50,000,000 bank loans. The new issue is scheduled for probable offering early in October by a syndicate headed by Blyth & Co,, Inc., the news agency reported. The new issue, it was added, will contain a sinking fund based in part on earnings and offering an oppor- tunity for bondholders to benefit in Columbia Pictures Corp.
