STONE. ‘The Washington Rapid Transit Co., which operates the Sixteenth street bus line, reported a notable increase in net earnings in July, according to the monthly financial statement filed today with the Public Utilities Com- mission. It was the first of the July reports to be filed Operating revenues totaled $33,- 966.80, compared with $29.96146 a year ago in July, an increase of $4.005.34. Early losses of 1 to more than 4 points were reduced or canceled in late dealinps. The aircrafts. coppers and scattered specialties were gen- !erally firm. Also Wall Street seemed to feel a little better about a possible House-Senate compromise on the utility holding companies bill.
