By the Associated Press The American Liberty League said | Yesterday “principles of government,” not “meaningless technicalities,” were | at stake in legal attacks on New Dea legislation. | Making public a survey of Federal | court decisions affecting laws and pol- icies of the Roosevelt administration, | the league said New Deal lawmaking tended toward creation of “machinery | susceptible of use by & despotism.” It found “supporting evidence of a tendency toward autocracy” in attacks upon courts following their decisions, | adding: “Throughout the legal attacks on the | important laws enacted since 1933 runs | & purpose to preserve essential features | of the United States Government such | as the separation of powers among the legislative, executive and judicial branches; the dual sovereignty of the Federa!
