JOHN F. CONAWAY DIES OF PARALYSIS STROKE Deceased Was Owner Formerly Living at Fairmont, W. Va. Retired Hotel THE EVENING STAR, WASHINGTON, died yesterday at his home, 1501 Dela- field place, after a recurrence of paral- ysis contracted four years ago. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow in Fairmont, his birth- place and home until 1916. Surviving are four daughters, Miss Eva Conaway and Mrs. Will McClaine of Washington, Mrs. Walter Campbell, John Franklin Conaway, 75, retired Charleroi, Pa., and Mrs. Ernest Bell, hotél owner from Fairmont, W. Funeral services and burial were to be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at Nomini Cemetery, Montrose, Va. 8ix of Hall's young friends were to serve as pallbearers. They are Ralph Given, jr.; James M. Corcoran, John W. Staggers, George L. Hutt, Thomas S. Nowell and a brother, E. Madison Hall, jr. . LIEUT. COL. HALFORD BURIED IN ARLINGTON Lieut. Col. Dean Halford, U. 8. A retired, who died Saturday at Kala. mazoo, Mich., was buried today in Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors. Chaplain Julian E. Yates conducted the services from the Fort Myer gate. Lieut. Col. Halford was born 58 years ago in Massachusetts and en- tered the military service in 1902. He received the Silver Star citation for gallantry in action at Lake Lanao, Mindanao, Philippine Islands, in 1904. He was graduated from the School of | the Line in 1922, from the Command | and General Staff School in 1924 and the War College in 1928. He retired in 1929. His widow lives in Kalamazoo.
