Police said Clark and his son were painting their house, using an impro- vised scaffold which had been pulled above a second-story window. The father suddenly lost his balance and began to topple. The youth thrust out an arm to save him and both fell to the concrete pavement below. LIGHTNING HITS PLANE Bolt Sears Struts and Paint, but Flyer Lands Safely. The fuselage of the plane was torn in several spots. Bits of metal on the plane had melted, and the paint and struts were seared black from the intense heat of the bolt.
