As the sales opened, C. C. Cappel, busi- ness manager, said a lively demand was being shown for both single and season tickets. The latter were put on sale in the Julius Garfinckel & Co. store yesterday. The concerts will be given from a barge on the Potomac River, the audi- ence being seated on the huge water gate. For several weeks, while officials of the orchestra and the Washington local of the Musicians’ Protective Union wrangled over whether local musicians who had been found want- ing by Director Hans Kindler should have places on the orchestra, the con- certs were in doubt. The way was cleared recently when an oboeist, Emil Spitzer, was given a place on the pay roll.
