FINANCIAL, CORPORATE BONDS RECORD DECLINES Better Tone in Rail and Utility lssu2s Helps Prioes Near End. By the Asseciated Press. NEW YORK, June 25.—The cor- porate’ bond market slipped back miner fractions to a point before re- rovmrl( toward the end of trading today when a better tone crept into rails and utilities. The ‘closing gong found the main body of bonds in the minus column, but most of them worked up slightly from the lows of the day and & num- ber of rail and utility issues were able to show minor gains. NEW YORK, June 25.—Dijrectors of the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway Co. declared a dividend of $2 & share on the common stock for the year commencing July 1, 1934, and ending June 30, 1935. The payment will be made out of accumulated surplus September 3 to stock of record July 31. A year ago at this time a similar dividend was declared prior to which no payments on the common had been made since June, 1932, when §1 a share was disbursed. Commonwealth & Southern. CHIC. e 25.—Sales figures for the fifth period of 1935, May 22 to June 18, were announced yesterday by Sears, Roebuck & Co. as $32,204,~ 789, an increase of 29.1 per cent over the fitth period of 1934, when the total was $2¢.023,393. The total for the first five periods of 1935, January 30 to June 18, was announced as $148,056,923, compared with $118,997 988 for the same periods in 1934, an ircrease of 24.4 per cent. The current fifth period, the an- nouncement saiG, was the highest in the history of the company with the exception of the fifth period of 1929, and the largezt period of any of the first five in any year, with the same exception.
