ACTON SENTENCED ON PISTOL CHARGE Former Convict Held in Robbery and Death Threat Against Fred Harper. Held with another man in connec- tion with the robbery of Fred Harper, 1833 New Hampshire avenue, in March, Frank H. Acton, former con- vict, was found guilty by a jury in Police Court yesterday of carrying & concealed weapon and was sentenced by Judge Gus Schuldt to serve 365 days in jail and pay a fine of $1,000 or serve another 90 days in jail. Acton and Reuben Rose, 940 I street, it is claimed by Detectives Van D. Hughes and Robert Barrett, robbed Harper of a large amount of jewelry and some money. March 25 the de- tectives were informed that an attempt was being made to sell the jewelry back to Harper under a threat of death if he refused to pay the amount demanded and March 26 a “plant” was made at Rose’s home which resulted in the seizure of Acton when he ar- rived with a loaded .32 -caliber re- volver. He was quoted by detectives 35 Delivers Any Suite! as having both admitted the robbery and declaring his intention to kill Rose. After the arrest of Rose, on the same day, both were charged with robbery and since have been held for action of the grand jury. The charge upon which Acton was con- victed yesterday was in addition to that of robbery. Acton has a long record, his heaviest sentence having been seven years in the penitentiary in 1928 for perjury in securing a marriage license.
