LOS ANGELES, April 16.—Charles ‘Templeton Crocker, San Francisco capitalist, returned yesterday from a seven months’ cruise, during which he and three scientists of the American Museum of Natural History studied the strange language of the 200 inhabi- tants of Pitcairn Island, 1,500 miles south of Tahitl. The Pitcairn Islanders are decend- ants of the 16 mutinees of the British vessel, the Bounty, that landed at Pitcairn in 1798.
