NEW YORK, April 6—Edwin Ar- lington Robinson, thrice winner of the Pulitzer prize and honored as “Amer- ica’s foremost living poet,” died early | today. | The 65-year-old poet had been in New York Hospital since January 17 for treatment of a chronic ailment. He recently underwent an operation and on Wednesday suffered a relapse. With Robinson when he died were | two old friends, George Burnham, a | railroad man, of Boston, and Carty' Ranck, retired New York newspnper man. Robinson, to whom the world wns‘ “a kind of spiritual kindergarten,” was forced to submerge his literary | expression for years in prosaic jobs. Attended Harvard. In 1905, when Roosevelt was President of the United States, he wrote an enthusi- astic review of Robinson's poetry. The review gained the poet a wider audi- ence. DR.
