Treas, 88, of Danville, Pa., died yesterday at the home of his daughter, Mrs, Frank C. Updike, 2755 Macomb street. He was an employe of the Pennsylvania Railroad for many years. Besides Mrs. Updike, Mr. Treas is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Lester N. Kimbel, also of Washington; three sons, R. H. Treas of New York, H. M. Treas of Danville, E. W. Treas, Berwick, Pa., and a sister, Mrs. D, F. Pursel of Sunbury, Pa Funeral services will be held Satur- day in Riverside, Pa, Wife of Dr. Edward A. Balloch Was Accomplished Musician and Composer. Mrs. Lillian P. McGrew Balloch, wife of Dr. Edward A. Balloch, died yesterday after an illness of several months. She was 70 years old. Mrs. Balloch, the daughter of the late J. Milton McGrew of this city, was born in Batavia, Ohio, but came to this city while a child and lived here since that time. She was known as an accomplished musician and composer. Besides her husband, she is sur- vived by her daughter, Mrs. William Dawson, wife of the American Min- ister to Colombia, and two sisters, Mrs. John Wesley Smith and Mrs. Agnes McGrew Wickersham. EDWIN SWEET DIES SUDDENLY IN WEST Former House Member and As- sistant Secretary of Com- merce Was 88. Mrs. Lena Nelson Anderson, life- long resident of Washington and nearby Virginia, and a descendant of Thomas Nelson, signer of the Declara- tion of Independ- ence, - died this mmlnc at Emer- gency Hospital. She had been a resident of Lyon Village, Va., since 1930, and was ill for several months. Mrs. Anderson was born near ‘Warrenton, Vi a daughter of the late Capt. Joseph H. Nelson, former mayor of War- renton, and Mary Wingfield Nelwn. She lived in Wash- ington about 25 years. She is survived by her husband, Thomas G. Anderson, two sons and two daughters, Mrs. Samuel Poe Car- den and Robert Nelson Anderson, of Lyon Village; Mrs. Robert Wendell Eaves of Alexandria and J. Nelson An- derson of this city. Born in Lafayette, Ind, on April 8, 1895, he entered the Army through the Cal- Edwin F. Sweet, Assistant Secretary of Commerce here during the eight years of the Wilson administration and member of the House from the fifth Michigan district from 1911 to 1913, died suddenly yesterday at Ojai, Calif. He was 88. A native of Dansville, N. Y., Mr. Sweet was a graduate of Yale Univer- sity. He practiced law in Grand Rapids, Mich., for many years, also serving a term as mayor. He is survived by two daughters, Miss Sophia Sweet, with whom he lived, and Mrs. Daniel Stanwood of Brunswick, Me, wife of a Bowdoin professor, and two sons, Carroll Sweet, Grand Rapids, and Dean Sid- ney Sweet of St. Louis.
