Javins, 65, Succumbs to Burns Received Before Res- cue by Neighbor. Saved from immediate death by the heroism of an 18-year-old girl, Francis H. Javins, 65, died last night in Emer- gency Hospital from burns received in his home, 530 Eighth street southwest, on the evening of Feiruary 25 when he accideutly set fire to window cur- tains and his bathrobe while trying to light his pipe. Miss Josephine Mamakos, who lives in a house across the street from his home, ran “into the Javins house and smothered the flames with blankets when she saw the flaming curtains. Greenwood, sr.. a resi- dent of Washington since 1906, when he came here to establish the projec- tile plant of the Washington Steel & Ordnance Co., at Giesboro, D. Funeral services for Miss Clara Greacen, who died at her home, 1025 Fifteenth street, Saturday, after prolonged will be held today at 7 p.m. at Chamber’s funeral home, 1400 Chapin street, with members of the Women’s Overseas Service League in attendance. Burial will be in Kalkaska, Mich., where she was born. Miss Greacen, one of the first women admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, was an attorney in the General Accounting Office and prior to service there had been employed as an attorney with the Treasury Department. Her serv- ice with the Government covered 42 years. She retired last July. In May, 1918, Miss Greacen went overseas as & member of the legal force of the assistant controller gen- eral of the United States in Prance. She returned in 1919. She also was a member of the Baltimore bar. ADMIRAL BROWNSON TO LIE IN ARLINGTON Retired Naval Veteran Once Was Superintendent of Academy at Annapolis. Rear Admiral Willard H. Brownson, U. 8. N, retired, who died Saturday at his apartment at the Mayflower Hotel from pneumonia, was to be buried in Arlington National Cemetery today following funeral services at the Covenant-First Presbyterian Church at 2 pm. He would have been 90 years old in July and had lived here since his retirement in 1907. Admiral Brownson, whose career took him from hand-to-hand fights with pirates to command of American ships in virtually all waters, was ap- pointed to the Naval Academy in 1861 at the age of 15—three weeks after Admiral DuPont’s victory at Fort Royal Sound. Later he became super- intendent of the academy. Born in Lyons, N. Y, the son of Morton and Harriet Brownson, Admiral Brownson spent his boyhood there.
