Appeals from more than a score of business, shipping and carrier or- ganizations for Interstate Commerce Commission regulation of highway carriers was put before congressional committees yesterday, along wlth [ demand that employes of highway carriers be assured the right to or- ganize. Harrison, chairman of the Railway Labor Executives’ Asso- ciation, placed before the House Commerce Committee amendments which he said would guarantee the bus and truck company employes the right to unionize. Four New York-to-Washington Pennsylvania Railroad trains carrying several hundred passengers were tied up for more than an hour last night by the cracking of a steel “tire” of the first locomotive and the stalling of the train at Landover, Md., about 7 miles from Washington. DINNER FOR NEW DEAL The Pennsylvania Democratic Club of Washington yesterday announced that it will hold a testimonial dinner party at 8 p.m. next Monday at the Pllgrim Club, No. 1 Thomas “Circle, to celebrate the second anniversary of the New Deal. John J. Doyle, president of the local club, announced that more than, 900 persons are expected to attend the party.
