DET CONFERENCE BRICHTENS BERLIN Important Improvements Are Expected in Three Financial Problems. By the Assoclated Press. BERLIN, February 8.—Berlin busi- ness circles looked today for impor- tant improvements in three of Ger- many’s thorny financial problems as 8 result of the current conference on extension of the short-term debt agreement which expires February 28. The problems, being studied by a committee of German and American financial experts, include stabiliza- tion of the registered mark market, transfer conditions and the establish- ment of new interest rates on Ger- many’s short-term private debts abroad. Curb on Fluctuations. One of the objectives sought to prevent extreme fluctuations in regis- tered marks is greater co-operation among various foreign banks in es- tablishing uniform selling conditions for such currency. Another of the debtors’ aims is to relieve the German Gold Discount Bank from guaranteeing certain cred- its as it has done in the past. On this point, however, the foreign short- term representatives are described as | showing only passive interest. Compromise Expected. At P. W. A. today it was said that the assignment of present personnel to dutles carrying a classification higher than called for by their present salaries is to be avoided, except in cases where it is absolutely essential that workers be deiailed to new duties.
