10 BE OBSERVED Services Are Announced for First Congregational Church Tomorrow. Dr. Allen A. Stockdale, pastor of the Pirst Congregational Church, will preach at 11 am. tomorrow on “The | Christmas Mind.” The Christmas white gift day will be observed at both services. The vested choir, un- der :he direction of Ruby Smith Stahl, will sing special music. A Christmas pageant of peace, “The wWay,” will be presented at 8 p.m. by the young people, assisted by the choir. ‘The production is under the direction of Nell M. Berghout. The public speaking class, led by Dr. Stockdale, Thursdays at 8 p.m. will be recessed until after New Year. PASTOR AND CHOIR STRESS CHRISTMAS Rev. G. E. Lenski to Preach on “How to Find Joy” at Service Tomorrow. The spirit and message of Christ- mas will be expressed in all of Sun- day's services at Grace Lutheran Church, of which Rev. Gerhard E. Lenski is pastor. At 11 am. the choir will present special Christmas music under the direction of Marian St. John Aldridge, organist, and the pastor will preach on “How to Find Joy in Christmas.” The Sunday school will have a Christmas service with songs, recita- tions and pantomimes under the di- rection of Dorothy Miles. At 4:30 pm. short addresses will be made by the superintendent and by the pastor. Early morning Christmas service will be held Tuesday at 6:30 am. There will be a candle light proces- sional, special music and a sermon by the pastor on the subject, “Christ’s Birth and Its Abiding Influence.” A Christmas party will be held Thursday, 2-4 pm., in the church hall for the primary, beginners’ and cradle roll depaftments, to which also parents and friends are invited. —_— PETWORTH PASTOR PLANS YULE SERMON Benior Methodist Choir Will Give Selection From “The Messiah” Tomorrow Night. At Petworth M. E. Church tomor- row, Christmas will be observed in all departments of the church and Sunday school. The service at 11 am. will be with the three choirs participating. The minister, Rev. R. L. Wood, will preach on “When God Became Man.” At 8 pm. the senior choir, under the direction of Ardis Atkinson, will present a musicale consisting of selec- tions from “The Messiah.” A feature will be the reading of the biblical text by Miss Martha Stauffer before it is sung by the choir. A trumpet quartet will assist the choir. ‘The Senior Epworth League at 7 pm. will have a candlelight carol service. Alma White will speak briefly on Christmas. The Interme- diate League will have a picture pres- entation based on “The Arrival of the Shepherds” by Lorelle. The Christmas morning service will be held at 6:30 o'clock. At this service will be the fromal unveiling of the new Christmas crib purchased at Oberammergau this past Summer by the pastor, while attending a passion play there. This is the handicraft of the famous George Lang family, a rel- ative of Anton Lang, and is consid- ered the most outstanding piece of art and sculpture of the 1934-5 season.
