Father Gumbleton was ordained by Cardinal Gibbons on June 19, 1909. He took a post-graduate course at Catholic | University and assisted in churches in Baltimore on Sundays. In July, 1910, he was assigned to St. Nicholas’ Church in Houston, Tex., remaining nine years. In 1919 St. Pius’ Church in Jackson- ville, Fla., was started and he took charge.
