A—10 MEXICO POSTPONES CLIPPERTON ACTION Senate Fears to Embarrass May Head Labor NEW YORK WOMAN MEN- TIONED FOR CABINET POST. U. S. Government in Ceding | Island to France. By the Associated Press. MEXICO CITY, November 15.—The Mexjean Senate yesterday indefinitely guvoned action on the Clipperton land case by tabling the Foreign Re- lations Committee bill, which would provide for compliance with the King of Italy's decision awarding the lonely‘ Pacific Island to France. The bill would change the constitu- tion by removing Clipperton from the national domain and it stated that Mexico was obliged by international honor to accept the decision of the King, who acted as arbiter. ‘The newspaper Grafico said the Sen- ators decided to table the bill because it would provoke a situation embarrass- ing to the new American Government taking office next year, which has not t declared its policy toward Mexico. %'!he suggestion that the United States might interpret French acquisition of the island as a violation of the Monroe Doctrine was published and widely dis- | cussed. ‘The committee’s bill said that Mexico considered the island part of the na- tional territory because of discovery by Spaniards in 1527 and that PFrance sustained her claim by right of raising the French flag there November 17, The governments submitted the mat- ter to the Italian King in 1919 and the Mexican Senate ratified this agreement. ‘The bill said this obliged the Mexican government to accept the King's deci- son. The King of Italy rendered his verdict January 28, 1831. ‘The government newspaper El Na- cional said the King's decision was made “in order to calm a situation” at a time when France and Italy were experiencing “strained relations” over armaments. AVIATION PURCHASE AWAITS DIRECTORS Stockholders Also Must Approve Sale of North American Corpora- tion, Inc., Opposed by E. C. Cord. By the Associated Press. DOVER, Del.,, November 15.—Dissolv- ing an order that restrained Aviation Corporation, Inc., from purchasing cer- tain assets of North American Aviation, Inc., Chancellor J. O. Wolcott has de- clared that Aviation Corporation direc- tors should have an opportunity either to approve or disapprove the purchase contract. The contract, calling for the buying of North American assets in exchange for 1,997,776 shares of Aviation Corpo- ration stock, must be acted upon by stockholders as well as directors, the court pointed out. ‘The restraining order had been issued last week following the filing of a peti- tion by the Cord Corporation, holder of 750,000 shares of Aviation Corporation stock, contending that the North Amer- ican assets under consideration were | “worth less than half the value of the stock supposed to be issued for pa: ment.” Counsel agreed yesterday that today's scheduled meeting of directors in New ‘York for consideration of the contract should be postponed for a week to give E. L. Cord, president of the Cord Cor- poration, time to come East and attend the session. e TROTZKY HELD ON SHIP BOUND FOR COPENHAGEN Report From Turkey States Rus- sian and Family Are on Italian Steamer Praga.
