His death followed a cerebral hemorrhage. Mr. Priest's work at the Bureau of Standards brought him recognition as {a leader in the science of color and its applications. His colleagues say he did more than any other man to de- velop the experimcental and theoretical foundations necessary for sccurate color standardization. He was most successful in developing precise color ncmeénclature, methods of color meas- urement and in basing color specifica- | tions upen accurately determinable lqumutles Optical Society Leader.
