Two Are Indicted. Mayo said an inquiry would be con- ducted into the treatment accorded prisoners by Capt. J. H. Baker, who had charge of the camp before his transfer to the Prison Farm at Raiford. The death was that of Arthur Maille- fet of Westfield, N. J., who was found strangled to death in a sweat box at the prison camp where he was serving a sentence for robbery. Inquiry by the grand jury led to the first-degree murder indictment of Capt. George Courson and 'Solomon Higeinbotham, a guard. They are at liberty under bond pending trial next Fall. The grand jury already has asked State officials to remove Baker, and Gov. Carlton has announced a thor- ough inquiry into conditions prior and subsequent to Maillefert'’s death will be made. SANDY SPRING, Md, July 21— David Kennedy, 84, a long-time resident of the Fairland neighborhood, died early yesterday at the Montgomery County General Hospital here following a week’s illness.
