W YORK, April 11.—The following is a summary of important corpora- tion news prepared by the Standard Statistics Co., Inc., New York, for the Associated Press Weekly News Review. The stock market continued its dras- tic downward trend and broke to new low levels. The lack of encouraging Spring trade results and the unsettling situation in Congress were the major influences affecting security prices. The actual movement of the stock market as indicated by our price index for 90 stocks showed a decline of 6.3 points, dropping from 56.4 on April 2 to 50.1 the only upward swing occurring on Saturday. Unfilled orders of the United States Steel Corporation fell off badly during March. On March 31 unfilled tonnage { totaled 2.472.413 a decline of 73.216 tons from 2,545 tons reported on hand Febr nd comparing with 3995330 tons March 31, 1931 Ingot production during the week end- ed April 4 continued to decline, drop- ping (o about 221. per cent of capacity | from a shade under 24 per cent in the preceding week and a little below 25 | per_cent two weeks ago. Electric power production in the week ended April 2 amounted to 1.480.- | 208,000 kilowatt hours, the lowest level {reached in many years and a decline of {119 per cent from the corresponding week of year. The gap between this and last vear's figures has grad- | ually been widening this year. ! Revenue freight car loadings failed | to continue the upward trend which | was in evidence in the previous two | weeks. The American Railway Associa- { tion reports that lo dings totaled 56 ' 118 cars in the week endeq March 25, a decrease of 23,516 cars from the pre- ceding week and 177,726 cars under the like-week of 1931. Mainly because of a sharp increase "m Ford output, automobile production in the week ended April 2 showed a | further increase. Output amounted to 42,612 units, which compared with 3| 546 units in the previous week and 72.- 609 units in the like 1931 week. The | response to the ‘ntensive selling cam- paigns which are being carried on by the various manufacturers point to in- creaced business. However, it is too early 10 tell how much of the enthu- anm will develop into actual orders. The Companies.
