A, retired, who died yes- terday, will be held at the home, 3415 Massachusetts avenue, Tuesday morn- ing at 11 o'clock. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery. Col. Macomb, a veteran of the Indian campaigns in the West, who was cited for gallantry in action against the Spanish in 1898, had been ill for many months. He was 77 years old. Born in Detroit in 1854, Col. Macomb was the son of a soldier, Col. John N Macomb, veteran of the Civil ‘War. As an uncle, Admiral Macomb, was com- mandant of the Naval Academy, the nephew entered the service school, but left after a comparatively short stay. Some time after he left school he signed up with a merchantman which was to sail around Cape Horn. Upon arriving In San Francisco fol- lowing & tempestuous voyage, the young man found he had been appointed to a second lieutenancy in the 4th Infantry Division. A Year later he was transfer- red to the 5th Cavalry, with which he remained until his retirement in 1918. Serving in the division with the pres- nt Gen. Eben Swift, a life-long friend, who, as a retired officer. resides in Washington, Col. Macomb fought in the Indian wars for four vears. Cook, 84, of Front Royal, Va., died yesterday at Walter Reed Hospital of complications following an operation last July. Dr. Cook, a surgeon, served Overseas as a major with the 29th Division, 116th Infantry, later being transferred to the 1st Division, Army of Occupation. He graduated from George Washing- ton University Medical School and in- terned at Garfleld Hospital. He is survived by his widow, Olive, daughter of the Rev. C.
