RANCES LEE BOWDEN is doing her first job of broadcasting and from present indications she’s going to be on the air every day for the time being, giving in the language of the Ozark Mountains her reactions to New York. Eighteen “closing in on 19,” as she puts her age, Frances went to New York 35 days ago and is rather reticent about zhe visit beyond saying her main purpose is to go on the stage. She made her radio debut Monday and didn't appear to be a bit nervous before the microphone, reading her lines like a veteran. Only once did she stumble, literally as well as figuratively. Then she missed a cue or two, at the same time stepping on the microphone cable and generating a big noise in the speaker, - * K kX MID the chattering of the children in the “Lady Next Door” program, conducted by Madge Tucker, is a voice that sounds almost ‘denmcllly to that of Eddie Cantor, but it comes from the mouth of 14-year-old Howard Merrill, who plays various dramatic parts in the sketch. Incidentally, while the “Lady Next Door” periods may be a great lark to all of the participants, they mean more than that.
