r - KANSAS CONFIDENT . CURTIS WON'T RUN fnactivity in Planning Senate | Gampaign Seen Indicating His Decision. Bpecial Dispatch to The Star. KANSAS CITY, Mo., November 25 ON.AN.A).—Kansas politicians are cer- tain Vice President Curtis does not intend to run for the Senate. ‘When Mr. Curtis visited Topeka ecently, Kansas looked for something “significant” to happen. It expected to see Mr. Curtis met by members of his trusted staff of political generals from every section of the State. It a conference of the War Strategy Board, with Jim Stewart, ‘Wichita; Charley Kagey, Beloit, and other Republican leaders. ‘When the conference failed to ma- “that settles it,” said Topeka, as Mr. Curtis left after a 24-hour stay. *“Curtis does not intend to run for the Benate.” Convinced He Won’t Run. If he had any intention of running for the Senate, the political boys argue, the Strategy Board would have met him in Topeka. The veterans of the Curtis staff of former palmcnl battles would have “dropped in,” even though the Vice President could have spared only :e day for his visit to the old home wn. Kansas has seen its favorite son in too many campaigns, and has noted his method of fighting too many years, to be fooled about what Mr. Curtis would have done in Topeka if he had intended soon to announce his candi- dacy for the Senate. The strategy board would have left Topeka within ‘n hour after the Curtis departure, and every congressional district in the State, in a few days, would have had the ‘way paved and the people prepared for the official declnrnuon The Senate would have been “tuned up” for it.
