C, WEDNESDAY AUGUST 26, 1931.’ n the last two years we have experienced in I this country probably one of the worst de- " pressions known and yet it is proven that one of the few industries that has not suffered to any great extent is the motion picture busi- ness, and in Washington less than any other place, since the District of Columbia is naturally nearly depression-proof because of the fact that it is the seat of our Federal Government. The romance of the motion ‘picture business has generally been one of great interest; it is very fascinating and has grown by leaps and bounds far beyond any one’s fondest expectations. Start- ° ing as somewhat of a novelty and rather a sea- sonal business, today it has become a part of the daily life of millions of people and has changed from a seasonal to an all-the-year- round business, due to the latest inventions of cooling systems which make the theatre just as comfortable in the Summer as it is in the Winter and which increases the profits to a great extent.
