A—12 THE EVENING STAR, WASHINGTON, ASSISTANT PASTOR NAMED BY CHURCH Dr. Andrew Melrose Brodie Once Lived in Capital for Many Years. In connection with a program of ex- pansion, the New York Avenue Presby- terian_Church has appointed Dr. An- drew Melrose Brodie as an assistant pastor, and also has purchased the building occupied by the Blossom Inn, adjoining its parish’ house on H street, for its activities. Dr. Brodie is nationally known for his significant work on the study of re- ligious conditions during the war and as national representative of the Near East Relief. During that administration he had his offices in Washington #nd trav- eled extensively throughout the coun- try in the interest of that movement. Bullt Wichita Church, Dr. Brodie, who will begin his | activities June 1, is a graduate of Guelph College, Ontarlo, Canada, and the Chicago Theological Seminary. He has the degree of S. T. D. from Olivet College, Michigan, and D, D. from Be- rea College in Kentucky. He has had ministries in Cincinnati and Manistee, | Mich. He was for many years minister of thes First Presbyterian Church of | Watertown, N. Y., and built one of the | large Presbyterian churches in Wichita, | K Rev. He is a trustee of the Chicago Theo- logical Seminary, Emporia and Berea Colleges. He is a writer of books. e was chairman of the commision which | studied the problem of war and the re- ligious outlook in 1919 and was leader of the Commission of Good Will Delegates to the Near East in 1923, Once Lived Here.
