Henry Orth, jr, for many years a prominent patent lawyer of this city, died at his home, 1510 Hamilton street, last night after an illness of six months. He was 61 years old. A native of this city, Mr. Orth was the son of the late Henry and Caroline Orth. He received his early education in the Capital, and subsequently re- ceived several degrees at higher institu- tions of learning. He was graduated from Lehigh Uni- versity in mining engineering and re- ceived a bachelor of science degree there. Later he attended the old Co- lumbian College, now George Washing- ton University, receiving the degrees of master of science, bachelor of arts, mas- ter of arts, bachelor of laws and doctor of laws degrees. Mr. Orth was known as an outstand- ing metallurgist, and used his sclentific training in his practice of patent law. He entered law with his father, the | late Henry Orth, under the firm name | of Henry Orth and Son. Sometime after the death of his father in 1909, the firm's name was changed to Henry | Orth. jr. Mr. Orth was a member of the Patent Bar Association. He was married to Miss Mary Emma Beall and is survived by his widow, a daughter, Miss Elizabeth Caroline Orth, and a sister, Miss Caroline Sophie Orth, all of this city. Funeral services will be conducted at the residence at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow. Rev. Dr. H. W. Snyder, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, and_Rev. Dr. J. J.
