NEGRO ASSOCIATION TO MEET AT CHURCH District Chapter Will End Its Year’s Work at Session on April 14. The current year's work of the Dis- trict of Columbia branch of the Na- tional Association for the Advancement of Colored People will be concluded with a mass meeting at the Metropolitan A. M. E. Church on Tuesday, April 14. Joel E. Spingarn, president of the National Association and donor for 17 years of the Spingarn medal for the stimulation of achievements of Ameri- can Negroes, will be the speaker. At the meeting the local branch hopes to trict chapter since the beginning of its 1930-31 membership drive. The program which the association here is carrying out in its efforts to in- crease its membership and to educate the public concernihg the work it is striving to accomplish is divided into three major sections. These are the holding of meetings in churches in all sections on the third Sunday of every month from October to June; the enlisting of the co-opera- tion of fraternal organizations and other institutions throughout the District, and the presentation of leading colored peo- ple and their friends in informing the public of the work and achievements of the association. The churches which have held open doors to the assoclation’s efforts include Lincoln Temple Congregational Church, Zion Baptist Church, Mount Zion M. E. Church, Campbell A. M. E. Church, John Wesley A. M. E. Z. Church and the Fifteenth Street Presbyterian Church. Among the fraternal organizations which have co-operated in promoting the educational phase of the local branch’s program include the Grand United Order of Moses, Order of Elks No. 40, Order of Elks No. 85 and Knights of Pythian.
