GEORGE 0. WALSON FUNERAL I3 HELD, Capital Flnanclal Leader Is Buried After Rites at Cal- vary M. E. Church. Puneral services for George O. Wal- son, president of Liberty National Bank and the Washington Stock Exchange, who died at his home, 2101 Connecticut avenue, Friday, were conducted at Cal- vary M. E. Church this afternoon at 2 o'clock, with Rev. Dr. James Shera Montgomery, chaplain of the House of Representatives officiating. Intzrment was in Congressional Cemetery. ‘The services were attended by leading bankers and financic whom Mr. Walson had been inti; associated during his long and standing career as banker here. Those in attendance included committees of bankers, representing various financial institutions. At the time of his death Mr. Walson was serving his third term as president of the Washington Stock Exchange, lnl which he had been one of the leading members and most active traders for many years. He was past president of the Washington Chapter of the Ameri- can Institute of Banking, had served as & member of many of the most import- ant committess of the American Bank- ers' Association and years ago was an active worker in the District of Colu vla Bankers' Association. During career he had held executive pusl- tions at various Washington banks. A native of this city, Mr. Walson had for some time bzen a member of the Association of Oldest Inhabitants of the District of Columbia. CULPEPER PASTOR DIES DURING CHURCH SERVICES Frer | Rev. E. W. Winfrey Collapsed Soon After Ceremonies Started. Funeral Tomorrow. Epecial Dispatch to The Star. CULPEPER, Va, March 30.—Rev. Dr. E. W. Winfrey, for mcre than 40 years pastor of the Culpeper Baptist Church, collapsed soon after services commenced yesterday morning and was carried into the study’ of the church, where within a few minutes he passed away, while the congregation was uniting in prayer for his recovery. Dr. Winfrey had been in failing health for some months and recently was granted, by his request, a six- month leave of absence from his pas- toral duties, and Rev. M. F. Sanford, Jocal evangelist, was supplying his pul- pit during this time. He is survived by four sons, E. W. Winfrey, jr., of Clifton Forge: Herman Winfrey of Richmond: Brockman of Culpeper, and H. B. Winfrey of Sperry- wille; and three daughters, Mrs. Joe Terrell of Buckners, Va. and Mrs. Robert Booton and Miss Katies Win- frey of Culpeper. The funeral will be held tomorrow from the church and burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. March 30.— Through the efforts of the Public Utili- ties Commission of Arlington County all business houses in Northern Virginia which have telephones will be given, beginning with the next issue, free clas- sified listing in the back of the tele- phone directory, it was announced to- day. ! While there has heretofore been a classified_section of the directory only those subscribers who have cared to pay for the listing have been given classifications in_the business directory and as a result the listings were incom- plete. Under the new plan the local direc- tory will have one classified section for the entire community, but those under the various exchanges will be segre- gated. Representatives of the Chesa- & Potomac Telephone Co. will call upon all business subscribers to Jearn the particular classification under which they wish to be placed The new method was adopted after an investigation by the Public Utilities Commission.
