The American ' Joint Distribution Committee, Jewish welfare organizaticn, has appointed five Washingtonians to serve on_a national council of 250 to raise a $2,500,000 fund in the United States this year. The United Jewish Campaign drive for $60,000 is to be held here next month. Half of this sum is to be de- voted to the work of the Joint Distri- bution Committee. Levi Heads Drive. Those named were Harold H. Levi, drive chairman; Isidore Hershfield, co- chairman; Mrs. Charles A. Goldsmith, Morris Garfinkle and Arthur J. Sund- lun, Mr. Levi and Mr. Hershfield at- tended the conference in New York last Sunday at which plans for drives throughout the nation were formulated. Oscar Lecnard will be chairman of the Speakers Committee, Mrs. John M. Safer of the volunteer workers, Maurice H. Kafka of the Banquet Committee, and Joseph D. Kaufman of publicity. Completion of the Campaign Commit- tee of 100 and selection cf heads of men's and women's divisions of the drive are to be accomplished this week The local drive starts April 19, with a banquet in the Mayflower Hotel. LOS’' ANGELES, March 24.—June MacCloy, fllm actress, informed that her husband, Wilbur 'Guethlein, had filed suit for divorce in Cincinnati charging gross neglect of duty, asserted she would press a prior action of her own. “The fact is,” she said, “I sued him first in Toledo. I charged non-support, mental cruelty, incompatability—about everything 1 could. He coulda't and wouldn't support me, I stated in my complaint, and I am going back soon to prosecute the suit.” Commenting on her husband’s allega- tions she had refused to give up her career and declined to live with him, she said: “That's true enough. If he couldn't support me, I had to make my own living.” Pilsudski Leaves Funchal.
