The American ' Joint Distribution Committee, Jewish welfare organizaticn, has appointed five Washingtonians to serve on_a national council of 250 to raise a $2,500,000 fund in the United States this year. The United Jewish Campaign drive for $60,000 is to be held here next month. Half of this sum is to be de- voted to the work of the Joint Distri- bution Committee. Levi Heads Drive. Those named were Harold H. Levi, drive chairman; Isidore Hershfield, co- chairman; Mrs. Charles A. Goldsmith, Morris Garfinkle and Arthur J. Sund- lun, Mr. Levi and Mr. Hershfield at- tended the conference in New York last Sunday at which plans for drives throughout the nation were formulated. Oscar Lecnard will be chairman of the Speakers Committee, Mrs. John M. Safer of the volunteer workers, Maurice H. Kafka of the Banquet Committee, and Joseph D. Kaufman of publicity.
