POLICE DRY SQUAD HAS BUSY MONTH Report 301 Arrests for Possession and 1,474 for Intoxication. Much Rum Seized. Activities of police dry law enforce- ment squads last month resulted in the arrest of 301 persons on charges of possession, cale and transportation of intoxicants, the numb:r of persons ar- rested for intoxication, patrons of boot- leggers, totaling 1.474. Intoxicants seized during the month included 8576 quarts of whisky, 972 bottles of beer, 49 quarts of gin, 17 bottles of rum, 100 gallons of hard cider, 174 quarts of wine, 44 bottles of ale and. 7 bottles of champagne. Police also seized 42 automobiles and trucks, 5 stills and 1 wagon. There were 25 persons. arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated and 12 for drinking in public. Arrests for all offenses during the month totaled 8,932, the number for traffic violations being 4,072. There were 886 arrests for speeding, 106 for reckless driving and 3,026 for miscel- laneous violations. Reports of the operations of the polic: for the month show a total of 10 murders, 9 suicides, 7 deaths result- ing from traffic accidents, and 11 deaths resulting from other accidents. Twenty- six persons were reported to have failed in suicide attempts during the month. Movie Actor Suffers Breakdown.
