E M. NEWMAN obtained rare priv- * ileges, which enabled him to com- pletely illustrate his travel talk “Rome and Vatican City,” to be shown at the National Theater Sunday afternoon. He has new still and motion pictures of the Pope, the masterpieces in the art gallery, including the treasures in the museum; the Sistine Chapel, the 1 Loggia and Stanza and the Vi Gardens. The Pope no longer considers himself a prisoner and the Vatican has become a city. As a re- sult there has been great activity in the newly created city. A powerfui radio station is being built, electric, power, telephone and railway stations are rising, a post office has been es- tablished, a governor appointed and a palace built for him. All this and much more is to be seen in the new Vatican City. One of the ceremonies Mr. Newman photographed was the swearing in of the Swiss Guard. Many changes have Saken place re- cently in Rome and, due to the genius of Mussolini, we are now privileged to m grandeur of Rome that was. n until this year, such magnifi- cent ruins as the Forum of Augustus and many others of the time of the Caesars are now & part of the great city of today.
