HUNTERS KILL 264 DEER IN WEST VIRGINIA SEASON Record Number of Animals Are Bagged, According to Reports to State Board. Bpecial Dispatch to The S MARTINSBURG, W. Va., January 5. —A total of 264 deer were Killed in ‘West Virginia by hunters during the open season from December 1 to De- cember 10, most of them in the eastern PRI T Gttt compiete Seporis to State Game, Fish and Forestry Commission show. The State law re- quires each hunter killing a deer to make a report to the commission within 20 days after the close of the season. The kill—which occurred during the first open season since 1928—set a rec- | ord, officials said. The 1928 record was 168. Most of the deer were found in Poca- hontas County, where 85 bucks were killed. Vrooman, widow of | Charles E. Vrooman, died at mid- night last night at her home, 4820 Fourteenth street, after & long illness. She was 78 years old and had been a resident of Washington since 1890. Her husband had been chief clerk of the solicitor’s office at the Treasury Department for a number of years. Mr. and Mrs, Vrooman came here from Towa. She was born at Lancaster, Mo., be- ing the daughter of Edwin and Esther French, Besides a daughter, Mrs. Ben- jamin B. Cookman, she is survived by four sons. Raymond R., Edwin E., Henry D. and Forrest F. Vrooman. All reside in Washington with the exception of Forrest Vrooman, who lives in Los Angeles, Calif. M. C. Kenned; ice president of the Pennsylvania Rail- road, whose death followed a week’s ill- ness of pneumonia. He was a graduate of Mercersburg Academy and Princeton University. During the World War he served in France as a captain in the Railroad Corps. He had been previously con- nected with the engneering department of the Norfolk & Western Railway in Roanoke, Va. He had been associated in recent years with stock and bond firms of Philadelphia and Harrisburg. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Lois Leonard Kennedy, and two sons of Chambersburg; his parents, Col. and Mrs. M. C.
