Raymond Moton, colored, 27 years old, charged with possession of liquor, | received the most severe sentence im- | pesed in Police Court in several mopths | when Judge Johng McMahon ordered | 240 days in jail in licu of a $400 fine. The man was arrested October 19 by police of the fourth precinet in making | a raid on a house in the 1300 block of | Cedar court. The officers reported seizing a cass of liquor. Judge McMahon declared that he ordered the heavy penalty because of the ‘“evidence of commercialism in- volved in the case.” Moton was convicted last week by a Police Court jury. with Julian I.
