The advantages of the county manager form of government over the modified commission form, both of which are to be left to the cholice of the county voters at the elec- tion Tuesday, were stressed by Wallace | Lawrence, city manager of Alexandria, before a mass meeting of Fort Myer Heights, Aurora Heights and Rosslyn citizens in the James Monroe School Monday night. Declaring that he was speaking from practical experience, Mr. Lawrence said the voters could not go, wrong in adopting the county manager plan. He also took a stand in favor of election at large of members of the county board, declaring that it has been proven in other sections of the country that this method of election is of greater service to the county as a whole. Other speakers were Robert N. Anderson and Wliliam D. Medley, mem- bers of the Civic Federation Campaign Committee. The meeting was arranged by Robert E. Plymale and held under suspices of the Fort Myer Heights Cit- dzens’ Association. SHOWER QUENCHES FIRE MENACING FRUIT: Forest Blaze Near Keedysville, Md., Beyond Control When Rain Comes Suddenly.
