Jo- seph A. McEneany, for nine years presi- dent of Loyola College and for six years head of the Loyola High School, this city, has been appointed rector of Holy Trinity Church, Was] one ©of the oldest parishes in the dlocese. He succeeds Rev. Hugh A. Dalton, who has been pastor of the Georgetown church for #ix years. He has been transferred to St. Thomas' Manor, Chapel Point, Md., succeeding Rev. Jo- seph P. Carney, who in turn succeeds Rev. Edward M. Corbett, pastor of Our Lady of Loretto Church, Chaptico. Father Corbett returns to the New England Province of the Jesuits. Rally day will be observed tomorrow at the Takoma Lutheran Church, Eighth and Butternut streets, with an extensive program that has been in preparation for several weeks. BIRD D TO PREACH A SERIES OF SERMONS Three Messages Will Be Given on General Theme of “Why Follow Christ?” At the Church of the Pilgrims to- morrow . morning Rev. Andrew Reld Bird will begin a series of three sermons to be preached on Sunday mornings at the 11 o'clock service, on the general theme, “Why Follow Christ?” bch of the three sermons will consider an an- swer to the question of the theme. The sermon on October 12 will be on the answer, “Because He Is So Fine.” At the evening service tomorrow he will speak on “The Place of Hell in the Thought and Life of Today.” Next Thursday evening at 7:30 o'clock he will begin a series of 10 lectures on “The Old Testament, a Book for Chil- dren, Young and Old.” These lectures will be delivered in the chapel of the church house and are open to the public. Series of Nature Sermons. Rev. Freeley Rohrer, pastor of Met- ropolitan Presbyterian Church, has been preaching a series of nature sermons at Metropolitan Presbyterian Church which has covered practically every field in which Jesus lived, worked and taught. Y. P. U. Federation last Tuesday night lt the Central Union Mission. ‘The campaign will again be conducted on a percentage basis in seven divisions, nlmflxi Attendance, participation, Bible reading, church attendance, federation attendance, general activity and study. Considerable discussion arose over the attendance rules, but it finally was de- cided a member should not be counted present at his own union while visiting another union, except when out of the city or when compelled by official B. Y. P. U. business to attend another union in the federation. The campaign will extend from November 1 to April 30, inclusive, and only unions in_good standing in the federation will be al- lowed to participate. It was decided that Sparks, the federation paper, should henceforth be issued at the first of each month in- stead of during the latter part. Miss Alice Speiden is editor of the paper. A committee headed by Z. C. Hodges, has outlined !progrmu for each meet- ing in the federation year. At the meeting at the Petworth Church, Seventh and Randolph streets, October it is planned to have standards to designate seats reserved for each union. An “Autumn round-up” will be held at the National Baptist Memorial Union tomorrow night under the leadership of Elizabeth Owens, director of the Fellow~ ship Commission. At the West Washington Union the Devotional Life Commission, with Mrs. Florence Sabean as leader, will have | charge of the program, the general subject of which will be “A Plan for Bible Study.” Donald Seigrist of Group No. 4 will present lha program at the First Church B. Y. P. U. tomorrow night. The monthly business meeting of the union was held Wednesday night, at which time the rules of the federation and in- ter group campalgns were discussed and adopted. James E. Freeman, Bishop of Washington. The service will be broadcast by radio over Station WMAL. At the 11 a.m. celebration of the holy communion in the Bethlehem Chapel the sermon will be delivered by Dr. Edward S. Dunlap, canon of Washing- ton Cathedral.
