OKLAHOMA CITY, Ootober 9.— Mrs. Laura Hafreld, wife of former United States Senator John W. Har- reld of Oklahoma, died at her home here today. She had been ill six months. A native of Morgantown, Ky., Mrs. Harreld was an active host to official Washington between 1921 and 1927, while her husband was serving terms in both Senate and House. For four years she was treasurer of the Senate Ladies’ Club. During the residence of Senator and Mrs. Harreld in Washington she was one of the most progressive of the Senate women, interesting herself not only in official but in civic affairs. She took a serious view of her hus. band's position and mingled with Kentuckians, that being her own and her husband’s native State, as well as with Oklahomans. They bought a residence at 1841 Six- teenth street, had it renovated and were constant hosts while in residence there. Senator and Mrs, Harreld were com- rades from their early years and in ‘Washington they were constantly seen together, though Mrs. Harreld seldom missed an entertainment at the Con- gressional Club, or a luncheon with the Senate Women's Club. Their large li- brary of well chosen books was always at_the disposal of their friends. Mrs. Harreld was before her marriage in 1903 Miss Laura Ward and was born in Morgantown, Ky, FAMOUS CATERER DIES AT RESIDENCE Rene Dagueaux, Manager ‘at Rauscher’s Since 1897, Was Native of France.
