THE EVENING STAR, WASHINGTON, D. C., THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 1930. FIREMEN AND POLICE | —swvemwexrs — swosanes. e, smmrs ovemes_ sowees o PENSIONS CHANGED New Physical Examination for ! : STARTS MIDNIGHT PREMIER ~FRIDAY~ ADMISSION . SO ~DAILY THEARE FTER ' Pensioners Over Age of 55 Is . ] \ . : 3> AT ]Z e ]30_4_ ~-6.30—~ O b Stricken From Rules. The District Commissioners have ehanged the rules relating to increasing the pensions of firemen and policemen under the new police and firemen pay bill. The principal change, recom- mended by Corporation Counsel William 'W. Bride, is to strike out the require- ment of & new physical examination in the case of pensioners who have reached the age of 55 or more. Those who were retired under the old law for physical disability below the age of 55 years, and have not yet reached 55, however, will take another physical examination to discover the present state of their disability. All policemen retired on account of age or length of service will now receive an increase in pension commensurate with their rank and dictated by the in- crease in salary given to one on the active list of equal rank. The same applies to persons retired for physical disability below the age of 55, but who have since reached the age of 55. - S irgini X i 3 WASHINGTON NEWS nEW o sore West Virginia Ex-Governor Dies. £ Fid ot (Rl Herald ca El" Tribune CHARLESTON, W.
