SOCIETY. SOCIETY M. and Mme. Simopoulos Hosts in New- port at Dinner Party Sunday Evening and Again Tomorrow. HE Minister of Greece and Mme. Simopoulos, who are spending the Summer in the Covell Cot- tage, at Newport, -entertained at dinner there last evening. The Minister and Mme. Simopoulos will be hosts at dinner again tomorrow evening. Senator William E. Borah returned yesterday from Maine and joined Mrs. Borah in their apartment, on Con- necticut avenue. Mrs. Borah came from Maine at the end of last week to open the apartment and they will rc- main here until the middle of the | week, when they will go to their home in Idaho. Senator and Mr: are guests of Mr. and Mrs. William A. Barron at Crawford Notch over the holiday. Noon Wedding T ©Old Washington R The marriage of Mrs. Agnes Ashford Robert, daughter of Mrs. Snowden Ash- ford and the late Mr. Ashford. to Lieut. Edward Conrad Metcalfe, U. S. ” of Mrs. James Montrose Met the late Mr. Metcalfe of Natch took place today at noon in the Chur of the Covenant. The ceremony was performed by the Irving W. Ketchum. The bride was given in marriage Mr. Snowden Ashford. George H. Moses Rev. made_very simply Her hat was of chocolate color felt and close fitting. Lieut. Metcalfe had as his best man, Lieut. Vaughan Michaux, U. S. N. They both wore white uniforms. Following the service there was an informal reception and wedding break- fast in the home of Mrs. Ashford, at 2700 Connecticut avenue. Among the out-of-town guests was Mrs. Thomas L. Wattles, wife of Lieut Wattles, U. S. N., and sister of the bride, who has recently returned to Washington from Honolulu. Mrs. Wat- tles will pass the Winter here, joining Lieut. Wattles in the Spring.
