TIN AMERICAN MUSIC FEATURED 'conoert Tonight Will Be Carried Over Network of N.:B. C. Stations. Washington's outstanding musical event tonight, the fifty-first concert. of Latin American music at the Pan- Anierican Union, will be given wide dis- tribution over a network of National Broadcasting Co. stations and two short-wave stationsswhich will carry it to the Southern republics. NAA, the naval station, will broad- cast the concert in its_entirety from 8:30 to 10:30 o'clock. WRC and the N. B. C. network will pick up the last portion from 10 to 10:3( ‘The major portion ot the program will be presented by the United States Marine Band, under the direction of Capt. Taylor Branson. The soloists will be Abigail Parecis, Brazilian so- prano, and Rodolfo Hoyos, Mexican baritone. Four members of the.band also will be heard in solo contributions —Arthur S. Whitcomb, cornetist; Win- fred Kemp, trombonist; Robert E. Clark, corneust and Wilbur D. Kieffer, vxbnphonlst Five Berlin Songs Chosen. Aside from the last half hour of the Pan-American concert, WRC broadcast the usual array of N. B. C attractions of which the R. K. O. hour and the Happy Wonder Bakers are outstanding. There also will be the usual Eveready hour presentation fea- turing Nathaniel Shilkret'’s Orchestra and Lee Morse, “blues” singer. The five songs which did so much to establish Irving Berlin as a popular composer, are included in the program of the Bakers ‘These “:):Aul der’s Ragtime ‘He's a Devil,” “ I Lost You ” “Everybody's Deing It" and “This Is the Life.” “By Products” is the title of the “Mr. and Mn" sketch tonight over WMAL and a network of Columbia Broadcast~ ing System stations. It concerns Joe Green's solution of the garbage prob- lem. The second of the series of “Savino Tone Pictures” will be presented by the Columbia 35-plece orchestra, di- rected by Domonico Savino. Julia San- derson end Frank Crumit, stars of the Blaekstone program, will feature one of their most popular duets, “Ten Lit- tle Miles From Town.” Miss Sander- son’s solo numbers will be “It All De- pends on You” and “Mean to Me." Grand Opera Miniature. ‘The weekl: ind opera miniature will I:e 8 m’den‘:eld version of Flotow's tradella. ‘WMAL's attractions of local origin include a joint recital by Howard Moore, baritone, and Harold Martin, tenor. NEW _YORK, July 8—The United States Circuit Court of Appeals yester- day ruled that Marshall Field, 3d, grandson of the late Chicago merchant prince, must pay income tax upon a $200,000 fee he paid a Chicago attorney in 1922 to expedite payment of an in- peritance from his grandfather’s estate. The suit was brought against Pield bv the collector of internal revenue, who appealed from a decision of the Board of Tax Appeals that the fee should be deducted from his taxable income for the year.
