ARLINGTON COURT HOUSE, Va., June 26—Damages of $2,500 were awarded yesterday by & jury in Circuit Court to Mr. Dorothy E. McIntyre as the result of alleged injuries suffered by her on the night of August 13, 1929, when she stumbled over a stop cock box of the Rosslyn Gas Co. Mrs. MecIntyre sued the gas company for $10,000. Through her attorney, Amos C. Crounse, Mrs. McIntyre alleged that the stop cock box, which was located in Lacy street, Ballston, had been per- mitted to protrude above the surface and that her fall over it resulted in permanent injuries to her back. The gas company Wwas represented by Judge Harry R. Thomas of Arling- ton nty, Wilton J. Lambert and . T. Yeatman of Washington and James Randall Caton, jr., of Alexandria. They claimed that the box had roperly submerged upon its installa- ?fion, but that automobile trafc and rains had combined to press down and remove the soil surrounding it.
